We began publishing The Index Investor, the initial publication by Index Investors, Inc., in December 1997. Over the years, we have received a number of nice reviews from leading financial publications.
For example, in its April, 2004 issue, Financial Advisor magazine (published in the UK) noted that "Prudence requires that [you] invest widely and wisely www.indexinvestor.com gives invaluable advice to investors on asset allocation."
In its November 17, 2003 article on Exchange Traded Funds, Barron's, the weekly newspaper published by Dow Jones (which also publishes the Wall Street Journal), had this to say: "The Index Investor..is a monthly newsletter that covers the subject clearly and thoroughly. The newsletter outlines the site's model portfolios, reviews products and strategies, and analyzes related investing topics. This site is well worth the money for investors wanting an ongoing education on index funds."
Earlier in the year, in its March 10, 2003 issue, Barron's evaluated a number of online asset allocation and investing sites, including morningstar.com and smartmoney.com. We were one of only two sites that received the highest possible rating for content quality. The Barron's article noted that "unlike some topics of investor education, there are relatively few sites that cover asset allocation in depth. Many are short on content, and badly designed. But there are several worthy of your attention... If you're looking for loads of editorial content on asset allocation, check out IndexInvestor.com... As the name implies, its model portfolios consist of index funds and exchange traded funds. The site's content is thorough, and its investing rationale is explained carefully."
The November, 2003 edition of Money Management (a monthly magazine published by the Financial Times) noted that "the question of what is the right asset allocation for us, and which are the low cost index funds suitable for such a policy...is answered by www.indexinvestor.com, a brilliant and almost free web-site. Simply and clearly written, this both discusses key investment considerations (including identifying what can be considered as separate asset classes) and then proposes and tracks various asset allocation strategies."
More recently, leading publications have been saying nice things about Retired Investor too:
"Retired Investor charges a modest $59 per year...for content [that is] more substantive than a lot of web-based retirement coverage...[and] goes beyond the standard explanations of retirement issues, providing timely, interesting analysis." Barron's, 2004
"If identifying an investment strategy for our working lifetimes is hard, calculating that for our retirement is extremely difficult..."Cometh the hour. Cometh the [Website - Retired Investor]"... With increasing numbers of frightened pensioners, this retired investor website plays to Financial Advisors strengths." Money Management (A Financial Times publication), 2004.
Media mentions are one thing; comments from subscribers are just as, if not more insightful. Here is what some of them have to say about our offering:
